Viva la Liberta!

A mix of Wagnery, Mozarty and Haydny stuff, previewing Tony Palmer's new film about the Wagner family which screens on Sunday, and culminating, after a circuitous route via Kings Place, in Furtwangler conducting the end of part I of Don Giovanni at the Salzburg Festival in 1950. Worth a listen! http://standpointmag.co.uk/node/2135

Hi Jessica;

Nice blog.

I started a new blog on various subjects, one of which is classical music and opera. I've posted a few dealing with music, the last an hour ago. Please check it out when you have a moment. I'm an "amateur musicologist," a life-long student of classical music, and a writer and critic on the music scene here in New York and Aspen, Colorado. I studied music history at Michigan and piano at Julliard. I also keep up with the music scene in London and England. One of my favorite conductors is Sir Colin Davis, whom I met here in New York two seasons ago. Same goes for John Elliott Gardiner. Love to hear from you.

Best,

Bill Breakstone
