Faure on TV
I'm on TV tonight, BBC4's Sacred Music programme at 7.30pm, talking about the Faure Requiem. Piece in The Independent too. More here, along with Samson Francois playing the second Nocturne: http://standpointmag.co.uk/node/2817
Will be watching this with interest. These series are a delight. The symptoms you suggest for Faure are consistent with someone having been under persistent and unpredictable bombardment of the kind in Paris in that war. Even firing from your own side could be an issue, keeping the stress levels high. Given that many of the artillery pieces in use then will have been very erratic and unsafe, more so on the French side than the German, then taking account of all the other factors, it will have been very bad for those involved/
