After the best day ever in London yesterday, today we have the worst.
We are all in shock, but there are a few positive things to say:
1. We will NOT be cowed by terrorists. London is, and will remain, the great capital city that it truly is.
2. The casualties are appalling, but we must be grateful that it wasn't worse than it is.
3. The emergency services have been marvellous.
My thanks to everyone who has phoned and written today - your concern is a signal of the solidarity we all feel in the face of such horrific and cowardly attacks on innocent civilians.

I'm glad you are okay, Jessica. My thoughts are with you and your countrymen.
Oh, whew. I join Scott in relief. And I am saddened and horrified by today's events.
Jessica,
Can you please recommend a few great UK classical recordings (new or vintage) which might inspire or console us, in the coming weeks and months?
Yes, Andrea, that's a very good idea. I'll chew over some ideas and post recommendations tomorrow.
I kept checking your site ... so relieved to hear you are okay. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you there.
hello from mexico city...
I am glad you are okay.
Please, take care...
From this side of the pond, I'll offer Leonard Bernstein conducting the New York Philharmonic in "Fanfare for the Common Man" and Leon Fleischer playing Bach in his new CD "Four Hands".
sorry, of course that's Leon Fleisher's TWO hands!
Jessica,
I am glad to learn that you are OK.
My sympathy and prayers for you and the rest of the UK.
Jessica,
Sorry to hear such devastating news about our cousins across the pond. Our prayers are with you and with your country men who have been injured. I am sickened by these cowards who have to kill innocent people. Glad you are ok.

P.S.Love your Blog!
Our thoughts are with you today. I was living in NY on 9/11 and watched that whole thing live on TV! Will this nonsense ever end? An early concern was with a friend living in Cambridge whose wife works in London, but all seems to be well with them though I understand that transport out of London is a bit iffy. Very glad we can communicate with you again. Stay well and safe.
It's not exactly classical, but for today Noel Coward's old record of "London Pride" is my choice.
