A fun activity for the weekend

Why not devise your own Fantasy Football Prom, or several, or season, and post to the Comments box, or email them to me, and we'll see if we can beat Messrs Kenyon & Wright at their own game here on JDCMB?

Well, for the sake of this particular comment, I will assume that this is for the 2009 Proms. Some anniversaries need to be noted, starting with the obvious two:
* 200th anniversary of Felix Mendelssohn's birth
* 200th anniversary in memoriam Franz Joseph Haydn
So presumably our fantasy Proms controller programs:
(a) Elijah
(b) The Creation
(c) Several chamber Proms concerts devoted to each composer (or both in single given concerts).

In addition, two 100th anniversaries of note:
* Vagn Holmboe - thus, perhaps import a Danish orchestra for a Holmboe Prom of symphonies and/or concerti.
* Brian Easdale - perhaps a movie-music Prom, featuring the whole of the Red Shoes ballet (including the bit in the film that is on no commercial recording that I know of), and the final climatic sequence from Black Narcissus.

Some 75th anniversaries of note:
* Alfred Schnittke, perhaps a Prom with his Cello Concerto No. 1
* Sir Peter Maxwell Davies: surely the Master of the Queen's Music would rate a Prom or two of his own (any expendable instruments for Eight Songs for a Mad King?)

70th anniversaries of note:
* Louis Andriessen
* John McCabe
* Ellen Taaffe Zwilich

Anyone else for ideas?

Id pay good money to see Boulez discuss and then conduct Hiawatha.
