I've just discovered that Brendan G Carroll's definitive biography of Korngold, The Last Prodigy, is out of print. As next year is the 50th anniversary of EWK's death and there is going to be A LOT going on to mark the occasion, it seems completely ridiculous that this book, which took Brendan 25 years to write, should be unavailable. It's an invaluable and irreplaceable resource. The Korngold website, run from Athens by another devoted Korngold fan, Eleftherios Neroulias, is carrying an online petition to the publisher, Amadeus Press, begging for the reprint of the book. You can read and sign the petition here.
My own rather more modest book still seems to be in print, but it's no substitute and I am the first to admit that.

I think what might be needed is to find out the minimum print run Amadeus is willing to do and have people put in orders for the book. I guess I should look at the Web site...

I just came across your post about my book and am touched beyond belief! Thank you so much for your support.
However, I regret to say that it is unlikely the petition will succeed because Amadeus was sold about 18 mths ago and the new owners are not remotely interested.
In fact the imprint has gone way downhill and become very middle of the road now. But thank you and maybe I will find another publisher to bring out a 2nd edition - and put back everything that was cut from the 1st!
Happy New Year! See you next year hopefully for some if not all of the Korngold events in Vienna, New York, London, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Brno!!! (I kid you not!)

Remember e-mails about you doing a second edition of your book on Korngold??? You should do it.
