You might find this review of your favorite conductor (and the critic's, it would seem) of interest, although again, reiterating "Murphy's Law", the more he wishes for said conductor to be named to the orchestra of his city.....
Thanks, George! Much there of interest, little of surprise - except the arrival of Philip Langridge in drag as the witch!!!! Conductors like Jurowski don't grow on trees and Philadelphia - and most other orchestras on earth - are bound to be after him. I imagine he can go wherever he likes, when he likes, if he likes. On another point in the review - the adults in the audience nattering away through the orchestral episodes of 'Hansel' - I have to say I've never met ruder audiences than in New York. I remember people next to us yakking through Tatiana's letter scene at the Met and batting away all requests for quiet as long ago as 1979, and last time I was at Carnegie Hall with an LPO tour I reckon the guy next to me had escaped from a mental asylum. He didn't just talk - he shouted. Is there an attitude in the Big Apple that resembles "I paid good dollars to be here and I can behave as I damn well like, so stuff everyone else"?
